Artist, designer and ceramist

After studying at Kleiacademie in Amsterdam, my passion found a new focus. Ceramics set a new fire. I started developing my own signature collections. Contemporary pieces that are a fusion of traditions and stories.

Currently I’m working in a co-shared studio in Haarlem city to create my pieces under my brand “Ballet Teen” which means “Wet clay” in Arabic.

My source of inspiration is history, the multilayered Palestinian heritage and the last year specifically Gaza, its people, their stories, histories, art and the connection of humanity. My work has been exhibited in several places including Athens, Amsterdam, Haarlem, The Hauge and others.

When not working with ceramics, I am busy with social innovation. I’m a co-founder of ‘The Hummus Academy’. A thinktank dedicated to decolonizing indigenous cuisines by creating spaces for authentic and ethical narratives that bridge histories and futures through experiences and products.

Life beyond art

I’m a mother of Dana who is an animator, and Amir who is a musician. I relax and get inspired in an old house in Portugal with my partner. There I attend a little farm with a lake. Being away from big cities is my way to recharge. There I cook, dry fruit, water my vines, tend the watermelons, pick up the figs and almonds and develop ideas for ceramics in my atelier, sometimes in my dreams.
