Tabariya

€45.00

The Tabariya Hug Mug is named after the lake of Tiberias, with its warm, fresh waters. One side is stamped with the word Palestine (or Love) in Arabic, the other with a traditional cross‑stitch motif inspired by Tatreez embroidery. Each Hug Mug is shaped to rest naturally between the hands. Waters of Palestine is a collection inspired by Palestinian rivers, lakes, and seas.

The mugs are handcrafted and each piece is different from another, no 2 are alike, the glazes differ from one firing to another and that's the beauty of hand made. They are matte and speckled from the outside, and glazed from inside, which adds a beautiful surprising contrast.

Tabariya lay gently between hillside and water, a gorgeous city shaped by springs, lake breezes, and long horizons. Life moved with the lake…fishing boats, bathing shores & fields fed by fresh water. In 1948, the Palestinian inhabitants of Tabariya were expelled out of the city, their houses robbed and inhabited by the occupation. The lake remains, holding its warmth and carrying the longing to what was once lived.
