Al Sakhneh
Al‑Sakhneh Hug Mug is named after a the natural spring Al Sakhneh, One side holds the word Palestine (or Love) in Arabic, the other with a traditional cross‑stitch motif inspired by Tatreez embroidery. Each Hug Mug is shaped to rest comfortably between the hands. Waters of Palestine is a collection inspired by Palestinian rivers, lakes, and seas.
The mugs are handcrafted and each piece is different from another, no 2 are alike, the glazes differ from one firing to another and that's the beauty of hand made. They are matte and speckled from the outside, and glazed from inside, which adds a beautiful surprising contrast.. Al-Sakhneh mug is glazed by a special crackle glaze inside, resembling the crystal clear waters that flows from the underground steadily and fierce-fully.
Al-Sakhneh springs rises gently from the earth near the city of Bisan, known for its warm 27 degrees all year long waters. For generations, people came to bathe, rest, and gather around the spring, moving with the ease of its constant warmth. Now Al Sakhneh and all its crystal clear waters are taken over by a kibbutz, and is still waiting for it’s original owners.
